with winter in full swing, i would like to look back fondly on my favorite time of year: autumn. in october, bill and i, along with my mom and stepdad, took a little day trip to taos, new mexico. along the way, we stopped at roadside harvest stands and bought ripened red chile and admired the perfect round pumpkins.
the cottonwood trees lining the rio grande near embudo station were perfect golden hues, which contrasted with the amazing azure of an autumnal new mexico sky.
a final stop at the rio grande gorge found that same azure sky reflected in a now tiny rio grande from hundreds of feet above. as we stood on the bridge and looked down into the deep chasm, cars and the wind gave the bridge a slight shudder and beckoned us back to solid earth.
